China requires ID registration for using mobile phones

A Chinese vendor sells mobile phone numbers in a mobile phone market in Shanghai, China, 1 September 2010. China started on Wednesday (1 September 2010) to implement a mobile phone real name identification policy, which requires the mobile phone users to submit a copy of their identification cards when buying a SIM card in a business hall or a booth, according to the telecom operators and the venders selling SIM cards.
