Senator Edward Ted Kennedy dies at 77

1944, Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, USA: After a yearlong struggle with brain cancer, Edward M. Kennedy died on August 25 in his Cape Cod home. A liberal Democrat, Kennedy served nearly 50 years in the Senate working on civil rights, education, immigration and health care legislation. In 1980, he had an unsuccessful presidential run. He was the last survivor of the Kennedy brothers, President John F. Kennedy and Senator Robert F. Kennedy, both victims of assassination. Held in esteem by Democrats, Republicans, foreign leaders and the public, Kennedy spent his life serving the American public striving to create a more just, fair and better America.///Kennedy family and friends at their home, (L-R) Edward Kennedy, Joe Gargan; Background (L-R): Paul "Red" Fay, John F.
